TD Canada Shoreline Cleanup 2009 In September, 50 volunteers came down to Noons Creek and helped to clean up along the estuary, the creek and the paths around the hatchery. We had a great day and really appreciated everyone’s efforts and hope to have a whole lot LESS to clean up next year ! If you’d like to volunteer next September, keep an eye on our website or check the official cleanup website, listed as Shoreline Park from Noons Creek to Old Mill Park. Here is a brief tally of some of what was collected: ATTENTION – SALMON SPAWNING
POSTER CAMPAIGN During the spawning season, volunteers put several posters up along Noons Creek and the estuary boardwalk, with the kind permission of the City of Port Moody, reminding people to keep out of the waters. Dogs and people can easily scare the salmon which can mean the loss of up to 3,000 eggs. ENVIRONMENT AWARD Dave Bennie, PMES Vice-President, was awarded the prestigious Environment Award from the City of Port Moody at their annual Civic Appreciation Dinner on January 17, 200 Dave is a long-serving PMES Director, a key hatchery volunteer and chief organizer of our very successful annual Fingerling Festival.
